Tesamorelin (CAS 218949-48-5) is a synthetic 44-amino-acid analogue of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-44), carrying a trans-3-hexenoyl group on the N-terminal tyrosine. That acyl modification is what distinguishes it from native GHRH: it slows degradation by dipeptidyl peptidase-4 and gives the molecule a longer half-life in plasma than the unmodified sequence.
Molecular formula C221H366N72O67S, average molecular weight approximately 5136 Da. In published work it is characterised as an agonist at the GHRH receptor on anterior pituitary somatotrophs, and it is used as a reference GHRH analogue in receptor-binding and stability studies.
