Research Overview
KPV (CAS 67727-97-3) is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val — the three C-terminal residues (11-13) of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, and the smallest fragment of that hormone still studied for activity in its own right. At roughly 342 Da it is one of the smallest peptides in routine research use, which makes it unusually stable and unusually soluble compared with the larger sequences it is often blended with.
Published work examines it largely in models of epithelial and mucosal inflammation, and in studies of melanocortin signalling where the full α-MSH sequence would also engage melanocortin receptors that KPV does not. It also appears as a component in multi-peptide blends such as KLOW, where it is quantified separately.
